Food is addictive. This is especially true for meat and dairy products. But getting off addiction to food is not as hard as it seems, for it is not the same as needing food for daily operation of the body.
Therefore, I believe that if you truly understand the phrase "eat to live and not live to eat", there is a healthier life awaiting you, as:

    1. You generally and gradually learn to see food as replenishment for the physical encasement of the real you - i.e the spirit- which is somewhat separate and apart from the body, and not the total representation of you. You eat to live.
    2. You learn to choose what is good, right and clean for your body - and not just what tastes good to your tongue.
    3. And as the physical encasement of the real you -the spirit - you respect your body more and begin to treat it as a temple.

You also become more inclined for as much regular fasting as you can, for fasting is a miracle worker in the many aspects of you. It can really boost your overall physical, mental and spiritual health by cleansing your gut of all accumulated toxins; deepening your overall clarity of your mind and spirit(you will notice answers to problems the minute you 'acclimatise' to abstaining from food during your fast);increases overall physical, mental and spiritual fortitude;healing stubborn diseases, and among others, prolonging life (I don't know why when I say this people always say they only 'want to live enough and not too long'..tch tch, laziness, perhaps?). As countless of sages have said; eat less, live longer.
Try good health; overall health is the best investment you can make to yourself that is truly worth the time, money and effort.
    Healthy living,
    Viva.

Now onto another aspect of all this, supplements:-

    Story:
A while back(when young, sigh),I was looking at photos taken during an 'out-and about' kind of excursion when I noticed that when photographed - and when I was so engrossed in taking that photo and forgetting posture, lol - my legs, when straight, took on a curve that left a visible bow in the inner line that was too harp-like and stark against the background. After enough laughing at those photos from all concerned including myself, I got to serious thinking and realized that, I was suffering from rickets! See, I had never really taken enough cow's milk, always hated it plus, eggs and et cetera (thus becoming vegan was v. easy for me later on)and always pretended to be taking them infront of my stern parents who knew good health when they saw it - but I forgot to supplement, and behold the results. I had never figured I'd be short of some sort of mineral and in my mind, there were 'worse problems out there and rickets on me wasn't one of them'. Luckily, the thing regulated itself when I began taking calcium supplements in addition to Vit D (esp. since I was never out in the sun, feeling sick if I was out too long..and then I moved abroad where there is no sun 8 of 12 months a year..) and indulging in calcium-rich foods. Thus - it is v. easy to forget that can be deficient in something especially when you think it cannot be you, and it is how problems usually creep up.

So, lesson no. 1: Listen to your parents

    2. Take your supplements

3.Do not ignore the connections between healthy foods and overall body health.

    In all,

    Eat crap = become crap.
    Eat well = become well.

If you can afford supplements of vital vitamins, minerals, etc, take them. Usually food, even in the largest amounts you can carry in your bloated guts, can ill afford the 100% needed for use in your body. These supplements are kinda 'expe' in Kenya I know, but if you can afford, they can really mean the difference between a 'shiny -looking' vital person -kinda like those you can usually spot somewhere - mostly on tv... - and ordinary you.

It's a cliche but..you ARE what you eat.
    Straight up.
    Viva,
